The convention offered a wealth of speaker sessions, covering topics that challenged attendees to think creatively, act ethically, and work both logically and legally in the field of journalism. From discussions on investigative reporting techniques to workshops on multimedia storytelling, the sessions provided valuable insights for students to bring back to their newsrooms.

Student journalists also had the opportunity to network with their peers and take part in critiques which aim to point out areas for growth or change in publications websites, newspapers, or broadcasts.

The Foghorn staff received 26 nominations for work covering the 2023-2024 academic year, placing in four of the categories.

Foghorn Staff also won six Best in Show awards, which honor work published between August and October 2024. Notable wins include first place in Best Reporting for reporter Bill Eaves’ article “On Air Quality” about mold issues in the Fine Arts Building, and second place for Best Website (two-year campus) for Foghornnews.com. The Foghorn also placed in Best Advertisement, Best Broadcast Feature Story, Best Broadcast News Program, and Best Newspaper (two-year campus).
