Del Mar College | Thu Aug 31, 2017
Vikings, during the past few days, we have all watched Hurricane Harvey devastate large parts of the Del Mar College District. We hope and pray that all College students and employees came through the past week safely and will be able to resume their normal routine soon. For those students directly impacted by the storm, Del Mar College will make all reasonable arrangements for you to resume your studies as soon as you are able to do so. We will continue to process changes to your 16-week class schedules, register you for 14- week, 15-week and other alternate class schedules this semester, as well as process financial aid, emergency loans and offer other student services. In addition, ‪before Friday, September 8‬, we will be waiving all fees for schedule changes and will offer 100% refunds on tuition for any student who cannot attend classes during the Fall semester for any reason. If you cannot make it to your assigned classroom for the start of classes ‪‪next Tuesday, September 5‬‬, faculty and staff will accommodate absences whenever possible and make sure you have the opportunity and resources to catch up on the work you miss. Faculty members will be asked to use flexibility and provide support for students impacted by the storm. If you cannot attend classes ‪before Friday, September 8‬, you need to contact your instructor or your department to maintain your enrollment and your Financial Aid, if applicable. Please feel free to reach out to College officials and faculty members with your questions and concerns. We stand ready to assist you to reach your educational objectives, even in the wake of a devastating natural disaster.Thank you, Mark Escamilla, Ph.D. President
