Served in education for 35 years as a teacher, instructional supervisor, assistant principal and principal at the elementary and secondary levels
Retired from the profession in 2003; after retirement worked as a principal for McCraw Junior High School in Mathis, TX, and as an assistant principal at West Oso High School in Corpus Christi, and as an educational consultant
Served as General Chair for Feria de las Flores Scholarship Program for twelve years, the Christmas Posada Program for five years, and coordinated several cultural events in Corpus Christi
Active memberships include the Hispanic Women's Network of Texas, MANA, a national latina organization, Lulac Council #1, Westside Business Association, and the Association of Community College Trustees.
