Trunk-or-Treat at Cimarron Place Brings Community Together
Cimarron Place Health and Rehabilitation Center hosted a Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, Oct. 23, inviting families and community members to enjoy a festive evening filled with fun and services. The event featured booths from various local organizations and was coordinated by Tony Zamora-Kershaw, the center’s talent and learning director.
“As an activity director, I try to bring everything into the community and the community to the nursing homes,” Kershaw stated. “A lot of times we forget these people used to attend parties for Halloween. Their rooms are their homes.”
Later in the week, the center will organize a trick-or-treat event for residents, who will stand outside their rooms to receive candy.
“This event is more for the community, especially the kids,” Kershaw noted.
Caden Williams, whose great-grandparents reside at Cimarron, attended the event.
“My favorite part of this event is the candy,” Williams continued, “I really appreciate the community, the get-togethers, and just the environment. It’s nice to see people come out to volunteer.”
Resident Olivia Marquez expressed her enjoyment of the events at Cimarron.
“I love the events they have. I made a lot of friends while here. It’s a lot of fun,” Marquez said.
Representatives from Legacy Home Health and Hospice, including Delia Zamora, Margarita Samano, and Angela Martinez, also participated.
“We were invited by Cimarron to promote and have a good time with the children and the community. It’s been a great turnout!” Zamora continued. “With the attendance and other companies promoting their services, I’m so happy to see everyone come together.”
The Trunk or Treat not only celebrated Halloween but also strengthened community ties and provided a joyful atmosphere for all attendees.
The Trunk or Treat was designed to foster connections between residents and their families, allowing them to celebrate Halloween traditions together. Kershaw plans to involve nearby Veterans Memorial High School students in future activities at Cimarron, emphasizing the importance of keeping the community engaged with its elder members.
