Dr. Bryan Stone Designated as a 2024 “Piper Professor”
Prestigious Texas educator award marks Del Mar College’s 11th honoree since 1960 and first since 2005; newest “Piper Professor” received certificate, gold pin and $5,000 honorarium check as well as joined state and DMC lists of honorees.College officials presented Dr. Stone with a certificate designating him a 2024 “Piper Professor,” along with a $5,000 honorarium check and commemorative gold pin.The recognition comes from the San Antonio-based Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation with nominations for the pinnacle of Texas higher education awards submitted by invitation only. Each year, the Piper Foundation honors only 10 professors from public and private two- and four-year colleges and universities from across the state, and the honor recognizes educators’ dedication to the teaching profession and their outstanding academic, scientific and scholarly achievements.

- 1:42DMC Board of Regents Grants Distinguished Title of “Professor Emeritus” to Philip HiiDuring the Del Mar College (DMC) Board of Regents’ regular meeting on June 11, 2024, a retired professor was bestowed the prestigious title of “Professor Emeritus,” a distinction that marks their exemplary teaching and dedication to DMC students and the institution. The Board unanimously granted the title to Professor of Music - Guitar Philip Hii who retired during the past year and met the requirements to become “Professor Emeriti.”
